Publicity and Culture Department of Executive Committee of the 5th China-Eurasia Expo holds initial meeting

To comprehensively implement the spirit of the preparatory work mobilization teleconference of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for the 5th China-Eurasia Expo, the Publicity and Culture Department of the Executive Committee of the 5th China-Eurasia Expo held the initial meeting on April 27 to make a comprehensive arrangement and deployment for the publicity of the expo.

Member organizations including Overseas Chinese Affairs (Foreign Affairs) Office of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Publicity Department of the CPC Committee of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, Publicity Department of the CPC Committee of Urumqi and Xinjiang International Expo Administration, directors of news media of the central government in Xinjiang and main news media of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, group leaders and deputy group leaders of the Comprehensive Service Group, News Publicity Group and Social Publicity Group of the Publicity and Culture Department for the expo, and relevant staff of International Communication Office of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region attended the meeting. Wang Wulong, vice director-general of the Publicity Department of the CPC Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and vice director of the Publicity and Culture Department of Executive Committee of the 5th China-Eurasia Expo, presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, Vice Director-general Wang Wulong first introduced the organization structure and main responsibilities (draft for soliciting opinions) of the Publicity and Culture Department of Executive Committee of the Expo. Ni Ruchi, vice director-general of Xinjiang International Expo Administration and vice secretary-general of the Expo, introduced relevant information of the Expo. Directors of relevant members of the Publicity and Culture Department, news media of the central government in Xinjiang and main news media of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region gave many constructive advice and suggestions on the publicity and report of the Expo based on their practical situation and previous experience. Finally, Wang, on behalf of Zhang Kerang, executive vice director-general of the Publicity Department of the CPC Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and director of the Publicity and Culture Department of Executive Committee of the 5th China-Eurasia Expo, made a conclusive speech.

Zhang Kerang stressed to have a full recognition of the significance of the publicity and report on the Expo and demanded the Publicity and Culture Department of the Expo to work properly in the three aspects as follows.

First, pinning high attention with sufficient understanding. The Publicity and Culture Department should have a deep understanding for the role of the China-Eurasia Expo as an important platform for China’s summit diplomacy with Eurasian countries and the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt, as an important channel for boosting Xinjiang’s cooperation with peripheral countries (regions) and as an important window for exhibiting the image of Xinjiang from a comprehensive and strategic perspective. The department should go all out to properly work on the publicity and report on the Expo according to the deployment of the Organizing Committee.

Second, highlighting the theme and plotting in advance. The member organizations should focus on the theme of “mutual discussion, joint development and sharing, Silk Road: Opportunities and Future” and take the actual work and job division to work out corresponding plans to achieve good practical effects. The publicity and report should be properly done during the three stages before, during and after the Expo. Meanwhile, coordination with related ministries and commissions as well provincial and municipal publicity departments should be made in advance and invitations to media should be properly issued. Relevant media should be actively involved for the overseas coverage on the Expo. The environmental creation for the Expo in Urumqi should be arranged in advance.

Third, considerately arranging and elaborately organizing. As for an international meeting, the influence depends on its publicity, the quality on details and the success on security. The member organizations should overcome difficulties, pool talented people, plot in a scientific way, organize carefully, strengthen coordination and steadfastly carry out various tasks to hand in a satisfactory answer to the Central Government and the CPC Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, fully exhibit the organizing and executive abilities, good spirit and high morale of the publicity staff of Xinjiang.
