The Secretariat of the China-Eurasia Expo launched a new wave of investment attraction and exhibitor recruitment in Iran and Pakistan as the fifth of its session is due in September this year.Between May 26 and June 2, Ni Ruchi, deputy secretary-general of the Secretariat of the China-Eurasia Expo, led a five-member working team to pay a visit to Iran and Pakistan. The visit aimed to fulfill the commitment made by Zhang Chunxian, Party secretary of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, during his visit to Pakistan in April. It also aimed to give full play to the role of the China-Eurasia Expo as a platform of constructing the Silk Road Economic Belt and push forward the all-round exchange and cooperation between Xinjiang and Iran and Pakistan. During the visit, the working team held talks with Shabestari, director general for China Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Iran, Moradi, Executive Vice-Chairman of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, Asadolla Asgaroladi, president of Iran-China Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Majidreze Hariri, vice president of Iran-China Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and Maryam Samianifard, secretary-general of the Chamber. The working team also talked with Taimur Tajammal, joint Secretary of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Commerce of Pakistan, and Muhammad Umer Ashraf, assistant director of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan. In addition, the working team visited and held talks with Pang Sen, Chinese Ambassador in Iran, Guo Chuanwei, Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of the Chinese Embassy in Iran, Sun Weidong, Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan and Li Shaotong, Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan.
In their talks with the foreign partners, Deputy Secretary-General Ni Ruchi introduced in detail the related situation of the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the basic facts of Xinjiang. He gave high appraisals and expressed the gratitude to Iran and Pakistan for their support and coordination for the previous sessions of the China-Eurasia Expo. Ni informed the overall preparatory work of the Fifth China-Eurasia Expo and invited the Iranian and Pakistani sides to organize excellent enterprises to participate in the event. He said he hoped the two countries would organize professional buyers to participate the event and suggested that during the event, related institutions of Iran and Pakistan could organize project promotion of the countries. High-profile government officials from the two countries are welcome to the event, he said.
During the talks, the China Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, the Trade Promotion Organization of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran and Iran-China Chamber of Commerce and Industries said that Iran and China have long standing and established ties. In recent years, the cooperation between the two countries was strengthened. Xinjiang has its obvious advantage and great potential in intensifying Iran and China cooperation. China-Eurasia Expo is an important platform to drive the Iran-China cooperation. The Trade Promotion Organization of Iran and the Iran-China Chamber of Commerce and Industries will actively organize Iranian companies to participate the event. As for the Chinese proposal for launching project promotions, the Iran side will take into serious considerations as it is good for the full use of the platform of the China-Eurasia Expo and for strengthening the mutual beneficial cooperation on large projects.
When talking with the Chinese delegation, the Foreign Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan said that Xinjiang has played a key role in pushing forward the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Both sides have obvious advantage in cooperation. China-Eurasia Expo is an important platform for driving China-Pakistan cooperation. The Ministry of Commerce and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan will actively organize Pakistani companies to participate in the fifth session of the Expo and will strive to recommend more and better participants to the Expo. The Pakistani side will actively push forward the presence of its political dignitaries or distinguished guests of minister level at the Fifth China-Eurasia Expo.
The Chinese embassies and the economic and commercial counsellors in Iran and Pakistan expressed that they would actively help the Secretariat to coordinate related work for the Fifth China-Eurasia Expo.
