Volunteers at the 5th China-Eurasia Expo (I)

Updated:2016-09-11 18:19:27

We are volunteers for the 5th China-Eurasia Expo. Did you know that if an expo wants to be successful, all members must work hard and coordinate during the preparation period, care for all the details and make sure that every task is finished as planned? There’s a group of lively college students at the Xinjiang International Expo Administration -- the volunteers for the 5th China-Eurasia Expo. Starting today, we’ll take a closer look at their lives and work.

Li Jiaxin, Xinjiang University

I was doing my internship in expo management when the preparation for the 2015 Eurasia Commodity and Trade Expo was underway. So I came here to help again during the summer vacation. I feel honored to be an intern here. Although the work keeps me very busy, I gain a lot of experience. I used to be timid and not good at interpersonal communication. The twice internships here have helped me to overcome those shortcomings. When making phone calls to different departments, I got a lot of help from the staff, and gradually, I began to feel confident dealing with various tasks. This year, the work is easier for me than it was last year, and I am now one of the people responsible for issuing enterprise certificates. Generally speaking, I feel lucky to be an intern here. I sincerely wish the 5th China-Eurasia Expo a great success with the help of all its volunteers.

Arma , Xinjiang Normal University

I joined the Xinjiang International Expo Administration in July this year for the preparation of the 5th China-Eurasia Expo. My daily chores include receiving and making phone calls, and dealing with plenty of paperwork. I learned from my work that if one wants to finish a task well, one must be careful and work hard. For example, I learned how to properly communicate with exhibitors, enterprises and colleagues in my department. When I answer questions from exhibitors and enterprises, I now know how to respond in a flexible way. In the meantime, I learned some methods and techniques for dealing with different issues from my colleagues through observation. The pressure here at the department is quite heavy, but I contribute my own share of effort and most importantly, realize my own value.

Mi Jiahui, Xinjiang Normal University

I am responsible for certificate issuance and most of the time I deal with big enterprises, such as Sany Group, China Railway Construction Corporation and Alibaba. The internship here has helped me to improve a lot -- such as in communicative skills and the use of office software. I’ve also made friends with students from different universities and expanded my social network. Of course, under huge work pressure, I have made some mistakes and been criticized, which made me feel frustrated. However, as an intern, I must improve myself through all these experiences. I have actually gained a lot of principles and working skills from them, which will lay a solid foundation for my future career.

Wang Shuang, Urumqi Vocational University

I am majoring in exhibition management and planning at college, and the internship here at the Xinjiang International Expo Administration is my first off-campus practice. I have found working for the exhibition a little different from what I learned at school. Through real experience, my vision is expanding. Though the internship is not long, I have acquired a lot of office skills, such as how to better use a computer, how to scan a document and how to send a fax. My knowledge about the China-Eurasia Expo is expanding. During the preparation for the six-day exhibition, all people here work hard in a coordinated way, which makes me feel the power of a group. I do my part well, making sure that every step contributes to a successful expo in the beautiful Xinjiang.
