Could you still recall the period of being a volunteer next year? It’s time to say goodbye. I believe that everyone has been familiar with what we do. Please don’t forget our stories about being volunteers. Now, let’s introduce you the last department—the card-making center, which has two parts—one for card-applying and the other for card-making. The former is responsible for gathering information of guest from abroad or international organization and exhibitor. Besides it also needs to collect information of staff and vehicles and register them at the recording system, which will make preparation for card-making. While what the latter—card-making team do is to check the information, stick a special tag, and issue cards.
Let’s have a look on what our interns do.
Zhang Xunfu(Intern)—Xinjiang University
I’m honored to be a volunteer for the 5th China-Eurasia Expo, and also feel lucky to have a leader who is strict in his work but approachable in private. Although I just play a common role in the voluntary service, the way of what I do shows the image of Xinjiang to the world which is an important work. Hence, I’m so proud of being a volunteer to serve the public.
I’ve made a lot of friends with different major from other universities. A common feature which can been seen from all of volunteers is that they are dedicated and positive. On the first-phase preparation of the Expo, everyone here, whether men or women, is willing to take difficult workloads. I’ve kept a good relationship with them in s short time. As the Chinese saying goes, two heads are always better then one. During that period, I’ve learned a lot form other volunteers.
I hope that every volunteer can finish their own work with a strong sense of responsibility, careful and serious-minded. I believe that hard work pays off and that period for me will be an unforgettable experience.
As an volunteers, we hope more people will pay attention to the 5th China-Eurasia Expo, and more young people will participate in that event. Finally, I wish the 5th China-Eurasia Expo a great success.
Pan Yunfeng(Intern)—Xinjiang University
I’ve been in card-making center for about one week. Initially, I know little about what I should do and how I should do, but now, it’s easy for me to do some office work, for example, arranging information or something like that. I’ve gained much at that period.
I thought that applying for a working card is a easy thing, but the fact was not the case. The team leader is so kind that she teaches me step by step from how to gather information to how to arrange them, which is a big help to me. Initially, I get nervous easily when talking with strangers, even on the phone. With her help, I gradually adapt my job and my performance gets better and better. I’ve learned a lot form her. No mater at work or life, we help each other and support each other.
I’m so proud of participating in voluntary service. It’s so lucky for me to have the opportunity of being a volunteer during the 5th China-Eurasia Expo, which is meaningful. I hope I can get more chances to be involved in the China-Eurasia Expo in the future.
Cai Siyuan(Intern)—Xinjiang Normal University
I’m a undergraduate form Xinjiang Normal University. To be a volunteer is the dream I’ve had since my high school.
I had participated in the China-Eurasia Expo, formerly known as China Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Fair. When seeing the opening ceremony on TV, I feel proud of being native-born in Urumqi.
I’m honored to be a volunteer for the 5th China-Eurasia Expo. No matter what position I will take, I’m ready to contribute a strength for the Expo, which makes me realize my dream.
Our elders often say that if you have dream, dream bigger. But I think that I should be a man with my feet on the ground to realize my dream, and I should make a great contribution to the development of my hometown no matter how powerful I am.
The rapid growth of the economy in Xinjiang can be witnessed by all people, which is important for showing the achievements of development, especially during these two years in which the Central Committee proposes “One Belt One Road” initiative. The China-Eurasia Expo as a platform is more and more important to show the image of Xinjiang, which makes other people know here better.
I’m honored to be selected as a team leader, and my top priority is coordinating and insuring every volunteer’s life and work. All of my team members would like to take heavy job, especially our girls who are not outdone by boys.
At last, every working card is made by us, and we are proud of being volunteers at that department.
Tian Congjie(Intern)—Xingjiang University
As a student form Xinjiang University, I’m very glad to have this opportunity to be a volunteer at card-making center in Expo Affairs Bureau.
I’ve leaned a lot in such a short period. At first, I feel nervous because I know little about what I’m going to do. Fortunately, we have a good leader and a large group of colleagues, which is important to create a relaxed working environment. There is an elder brother who is strict in his work but approachable in private. I’m so glad I’ve made a lot of friends who are help and support each other, which I cherish the friendship. Now I know the Expo well, even though I only knew the name before working as a volunteer.
As the opening ceremony has drawn closer, our volunteers will do our best to serve the public and with our great efforts, I believe Urumqi will be more beautiful in this summer.
Feng Yinghu(Intern)—Xinjiang Normal University
I’m a volunteer from Xinjing Normal University, and now I’m a intern working at the card-making center.
What I do everyday is gathering and arranging information, but it doesn’t make me feel boring. And I’m full of passion and expectation everyday. Many volunteers are working behind the scenes, but what we do is of great importance. All cards of participants are made by us, so that that work requires me be careful and serious.
Someone once asked me that since you had a hard day at work, it is unworthy to do that. But I don’t think so. During the two years in university, I’m always strict to my study. No matter where I work at the school radio or the propaganda department, I’m not taking myself from my study. Although it is inevitable that doing extracurricular activities would take up of my time, but I can find a balance between those and study. As our slogan goes, it’s our duty to do work well. We are students from Xinjiang Normal University and keep the spirit of dedication in our mind.
Ma Siyue(Intern)—Xinjiang University
If having a closed mind, you never listen to other peoples’ opinion, which is a sentence applying to my internship. As a freshman, it is so lucky for me to have the opportunity of being an intern during the 5th China-Eurasia Expo. My school mates sister has taught me a lot and my leader guide me to be a better man. During that period, listening to others’ opinion is an effective way for me to improve my professional skills and learn more knowledge from practice. Sometimes I might feel bored. But a philosopher says that you should adjust your own attitude; a great man says that you should decide your own life; an artist says that you should enrich your life. Whenever I want to complain about something, I will tell myself to hang in there and I believe that hard-working will pay off. That is a progression for me. What I do now will lay a solid foundation for my future career. Being a volunteer enriches my summer vacation and also provides an opportunity to make friends with same hobbies.
Ma Jie(Intern)—Xinjiang Normal University
I’ve been working at the Expo Affairs Bureau since August. Initially I feel nervous about what I should do, but our team leader and colleagues are very kind for me, which makes me relaxed. What my main work is being familiar with all types of working cards, the range of its application and the process of review. The card-making team plays an important role for the Expo, which can lay a solid foundation for the successful openning of the China-Eurasia Expo. All the information of participants are gathered by us and their cards are made by us, so that all volunteer should be careful and serious all the time.
We work here at an atmosphere of unity and fraternity. Our leader is strict to his work and is approachable in private. He says that if we cannot mix well with our fellows, it is possible for us to work together well. I’ve been working here for almost a month and learned a lot of working skills, such as how to communicate and work together with other colleagues efficiently, and so on. During that period, I’ve made a lot of friends which is my precious wealth. As the opening ceremony has drawn closer, although our workload become heavier, all volunteers enjoy the joy of work and are looking forward to the opening of the 5th China-Eurasia Expo.
